3 Reasons to Choose Mitre Football Kits Next Season

In May this year, Mitre launched its new Mitre football kits range – see Mitre Teamwear Range Arrives at Live4soccer .  It’s been several years since Mitre has supplied a kit range, largely due to Pentlands – the Company that owns Mitre – aquisition of the Prostar brand back in 2010.  For the past couple of years the two brands have sat alongside each other with very little crossover in their respective ranges – Prostar being a teamwear brand while Mitre seemed to concentrate on footballs and accesories.

The recent addition of football kits to the Mitre range is a welcome one.  Here are three reasons why you should consider choosing Mitre football kits for next season.

Grassroots Heritage

Mitre has been manufacturing sports equipment for almost 200 years – that’s a strong pedigree.  Established in Huddersfield back in 1817, the Yorkshire football brand is one of footballs oldest supporters.

We were discussing Mitre in the office last week and set ourselves the task of finding someone who hadn’t used a Mitre product at some point during their footballing carreer.  We consulted our staff , asked customers, talked to our suppliers and guess what?  We couldn’t find anyone.  We came to the conclusion that, at some point everyone has used a Mitre football, a space marker, a bib, a football kit, a rain jacket, a speed ladder, football boots, shin guards, goalie gloves – something manufactured by the iconic brand.

There’s no doubt in our mind that Mitre is an integral part of the grassroots game here in the UK with plenty of heritage.

UK Warehouse

Mitre currently shares a 60,000 sq ft warehouse in Wakefield, West Yorkshire with fellow grassroots football brand, Prostar.  This modern and well stocked warehouse supplies the entire United Kingdom with Mitre football kits, footballs, bibs, space markers, footballs – the entire Mitre range.

The significance here is that the warehouse is situated in the UK, unlike other football brands who all distribute from central warehouses somewhere in Europe.  An average kit order might take 5-7 days to ship from Europe compared with a very slick 2-3 days from Mitre’s Wakefield warehouse.

The Bobby Moore Fund

Footballing legend Bobby Moore, gave the nation its proudest moment in football history, when he captained the England team to World Cup victory in 1966. With a career spanning over two decades and a reputation as one of the best defenders in the world, Bobby Moore is a true sporting hero.

Sadly in 1993, at the age of just 51, Bobby died of bowel cancer and this year marks the 20th anniversary of Bobby’s death.

The Bobby Moore Fund was established by Stephanie Moore MBE in partnership with Cancer Research UK, to raise money to fund research into bowel cancer and increase awareness of the disease.

Mitre is a proud supporter of the Bobby Moore Fund and in 2013 they are running an initiative whereby they will donate £1 to the fund for every Mitre Pressure Jersey sold from the 2013 Mitre football kits range.  We like this, it’s a good cause and in memory of a great man.
